RAU: The Alliston Centre

The Alliston Centre hosts two related, but distinct, user groups – the Growth Hub and Farm491. The Growth Hub is part of the Gloucester Growth Hub network which supports local enterprises to achieve their potential, expand and create jobs. Farm491 is an initiative established to expand agritech innovation.

The challenge was to create an inspiring working environment that improves productivity; enhances well-being and encourages collaboration, whilst also being considerate of future adaptability and change.

The distinctive building makes a positive, yet sensitively considered contribution to its setting, which lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The material palette, consisting of a mixture of modern and traditional materials commonly found in the Cotswolds, is used in a contemporary fashion, such as large areas of glazing which provide panoramic views to the parkland setting.

Professor Joanna Price, Vice-Chancellor of the Royal Agricultural University:

“Entrepreneurship and innovation are at the heart of the Royal Agricultural University. Our new Alliston Centre is an ideal environment for agribusiness SMEs to grow and develop. It is flexible, adaptable and inspirational.”
